Torque Performance Developments started our K20C development program back in 2019 looking to unlock the potential this engine could deliver.
After tuning the FK8 Type R platform on a many different variations of downpipe we noticed that no matter what we did with the wastegate control we would always end up with air stall in the boost curve due to a compact design with sharp aggressive bends or smaller pipe sizing being the issue in most cases.
With all the issues identified TPD got to work designing our own high flow downpipe with performance being built into the design from the start. A smooth 4inch inlet scavenging down to a 3inch outlet created just the right balance of efficiency to keep the turbo happy all the way to 30psi as well as remove the stall in the boost curve, an increase of turbo performance from 3000rpm plus lower E.G.Ts after repetitive runs on the dyno.
Both our N1 and N2 downpipes are made here in New Zealand out of 304 stainless steel , welded with 316 and are back purged to ensure quality and strength , stainless steel laser cut 10mm OEM flanges meaning any aftermarket exhaust you wish to purchase will bolt up to our downpipe as well as the OEM engine block braces , New stainless crush ring gasket is included , threaded boss to retain the OEM top heat shield , O2 bungs for primary and secondary sensors are also retained in the design.
The N2 Catted downpipe was engineered to retain the performance characteristics of the N1 cat-less design but remain road legal and emissions compliant, True 4inch inlet, 4inch 100cel high-flow catalytic converter to add additional volume and flow plus like the N1 downpipe is compatible with all other exhaust systems using an OEM flange design.
N1 TPD FK/FL Purge Welded Catless Downpipe
Recommended for competition use.
N2 TPD FK/FL Purge Welded Catted Downpipe
Recommended for road use and is VIRM compliant.
Please note :
Due to the fact these are hand made and in small batches there may be some small modifications needed to make the top heat shield and top O2 hole fit correctly.
